Grassi Lakes, Canmore AB

Grassi Lakes is one of the more popular hikes in the Kananaskis. The hike is under 4 km round trip and 125 m elevation gain. From the trail head just south of Canmore you head up to two brilliant blue ponds. The trail is a gradual incline with a great view of the lakes and town at the end. There are two routes, the more heavily trafficked and then one off two the side which offers a view of a waterfall coming off the spray lakes reservoir. The lakes are surrounded by porous rock mountains which makes the hike popular for climbers as well. I have done this hike a few times in early spring - late fall the only caution I will note is that it gets quiet busy if you go on a weekend so make sure to be there plenty early!

Difficulty: Easy

An angel in the book of life
Wrote down our baby's birth
She whispered as she closed the book
"Too Beautful for Earth"

A plaque sits on top of one of the rocks overlooking the lake with the above inscription.
